The Center can provide any of the aforementioned PAP units and accessories (masks/other interfaces, headgear, tubing, chin straps, etc.) for patients whose medical insurance is provided exclusively through private pay/non-Medicare insurance coverage and who have undergone sleep laboratory testing and documentation of their best/optimal PAP levels and PAP accessories at an accredited sleep center.
Patients whose medical insurance is in part or wholly provided by Medicare/Medicaid must acquire their PAP equipment and accessories through Medicare-designated local Durable Medical Equipment (DME) companies. In the latter cases, if our Center has performed the in-Lab diagnostic and/or PAP titrations, our Center PAP technologists provide Reports of our testing and recommendations to the local Medicare-designated DME company, which in turn contacts/telephones the patient to set up an agreed-to time to deliver the prescribed PAP unit to the patient’s home and to provide instruction in the use of the prescribed devices and accessories. Some DME companies contact the patient to set up a time for the patient to report to the locally designated DME company for provision of the prescribed equipment and accessories and for instruction in optimal self-application procedures and techniques. In either scenario, PAP follow-up visits are scheduled at our Center at prescribed intervals to ensure the best possible short and long-term outcome for the individual patient.
